Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence: Activating Successful Stewardship

Product stewardship requires producers and retailers to better manage the impacts of products and material streams through their life cycle.

The Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence was established in December 2020 by a consortium of UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, the Australian Industry Group and Cox Inall in partnership with the Australian Government through the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment.

Approach

Cox Inall dentsu has been working with NWRIC since early 2020 and has delivered a stakeholder engagement project to review NWRIC’s role in the crowded waste and resource recovery representative space. This involved in-depth interviews with NWRIC members, government and industry and community representatives.

Cox Inall also works closely with the CEO and Board to deliver a comprehensive policy review and communications program that includes a weekly newsletter to stakeholders, articles for industry publications and media relations activities.

Outcome

NWRIC is widely sought after for commentary in the media on issues of waste and resource recovery. Over a six month period followers on LinkedIn have increased 26%  with a 14% increase in Twitter followers.
